Support

Ciao! helps you remember to stay in touch with the people you care about. If something is not working, or you just want to ask a question, write to simonegiannatiempo1@gmail.com.

It is one person answering, so give it a day or two.

When you write, it helps to include your iPhone model and your iOS version: Settings, then General, then About.

Common questions

Does Ciao! read my messages?

No. It cannot, and it does not try. iOS gives no app access to WhatsApp, iMessage, Telegram or anything similar. You record a catch-up yourself, with one tap.

Do my friends know they are in the app?

No. Nobody is contacted, nothing is shared, and there is no feed or profile for anyone to find. Your list is yours alone.

Where is my information kept?

On your iPhone, and in your own private iCloud storage if you are signed in, so a lost phone does not mean lost notes. It is your Apple Account, not our server. We cannot read any of it. The full details are in the privacy policy.

I am not signed into iCloud. Does the app still work?

Yes, exactly the same. You just do not get the backup, and invite codes cannot be checked.

When do notifications arrive?

One quiet note a week, and a note on the morning of a friend's birthday. That is all. You can turn them off in iOS Settings and the app keeps working.

How do invite codes work?

Share your code, and when somebody uses it you both get room for one more friend. You are told when it happens, but never who.

I paid, and the app still says I am on the free tier.

Open the paywall and tap Restore Purchases. If that does not fix it, email me, include the Apple Account you bought it with, and I will sort it out.

I want my data deleted.

Delete the app, then turn its storage off in iOS Settings, your name, iCloud. That removes everything on your side. Invite-code records are kept separately and survive deleting the app, so email me and I will remove those too.
